Hi everyone! It's been a minute, I know. To be honest, I haven't had much to say in the way of life updates or anything like that - I figured I would just pop in and let whoever is actually reading this know that I'm still here and updating every here and there.

What I've been up to

Shiro had his 9th birthday in August. I can't believe he's already 9! I remember meeting him when he was 2. I have noticed a few signs of aging - a light limp that seems to be attributed to arthritis, and a general mellowing out - but he still wants to play and snuggle and chew on sticks, so that makes me very happy. What else...Joel and I had a weird heat rash at the same time for like a week. I actually went to urgent care and they tried to tell me it was scabies, but it wasn't -_-. It went away on its own, and I haven't had residual itch, and it's not on my clothes or fabrics either. Dumb. Oh well.

What I've been consuming

I started playing Roblox...yes, I know, at my old ass age. I'm playing a kpop game called Koya Studio - you literally just dress up and auto-dance to music. It's so silly, but it's been really fun. I've met quite a few cool people on there, and even sold some of my figures to one of them, haha. It's been a great way to discover new music as well, which is always welcomed.

Finally - finally - started House of Leaves. I've had that book on my shelf since November of last year, and I did attempt to read it once, but honestly, my reading muscle was not ready. Part of the reason why I got back into reading this year was not only to develop a new hobby, but to also prep myself for this goddamned book. It helped a lot, but my god is this book an undertaking. But, it's been fun. Like, really fun. I love meta crap like this - I'm a big fan of ARG's, or media that subverts expectations, and this is absoltuely no exception. It's been a pain to update on GoodReads though, haha. I'll have read like, 60+ pages because I'm flipping around the book, but my percentage will go up 1% because of the page number I end on. I don't want to spoil it for anyone whose interested, so I'll just say - it's a story within a story within a story. The house is bigger on the inside than the outside. This is not for you. Yadda yadda.

Went to see The Subtance on Saturday as well, speaking of weird, off-the-wall media. The last half hour literally had me watching with my mouth agape. Surprisingly, however, that was the weakest part of the film. I think it's cool that they just went balls-to-the-wall with the end, but I don't know if it was needed, and it made the movie drag a bit. Everything that came before that, however, was awesome. Demi Moore is so good, Dennis Quaid is fantastically crude, and Margaret Qualley nailed the superficial young girl trope so well. It gave me David Lynch and Darren Aronofsky vibes with Cronenberg-esque sfx. If any of that sounds up your alley, give it a watch, please.

Cardcaptor Sakura: Memory Key came out globally this month, and I'm really enjoying it, despite it being a very obvious money-grubbing gacha game. It's simple, it's idle, and you collect cute chibi Sakura figures. Great way to pass the time if you don't want to think about anything and enjoy the cute nostalgia. Still playing Love Nikki too - always.

That's all for now. Bye! xx
